Corporate Citizenship
CACI embodies good citizenship through our CACI Cares Program, with our support for the next generation of innovators and serving those who served. Additionally, the company serves as good stewards for our environment in several ways.
Sustainability helps people and organizations thrive. At CACI, we know that one of the most important ways that we can support our communities and our environment is by proactively reducing our environmental impact. From more efficient use of energy and materials to educating our employees on how to better serve as stewards of the planet, our commitment to sustainable practices extends across our three million+ square feet of space, in more than 150 facilities, in our leased real estate portfolio.
The health and safety of our employees, partners, and customers is also of paramount importance in how we conduct our business. To this end, we have implemented a comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety policy which reflects our strong commitment at all levels of CACI management to operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of our employees, partners, customers, and communities.
CACI is committed to protecting and improving the environment. Here are examples:
Protecting the Environment Inside our Offices
- We recycle commonly used materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, aluminum, and other materials commonly recycled. We have robust recycling programs in all leased facilities and provide recycled or recyclable products in our kitchens and pantries.
- Our newly built and renovated facilities within the CACI portfolio incorporate several concepts embodied within the LEED design and construction process. One of our larger offices is LEED Gold certified.
- CACI’s design and renovation projects promote work environments where a large portion of construction debris is diverted from landfills.
- Within our facility portfolio, particularly for newly designed work environments, we repurpose existing furniture and fixtures where possible, and incorporate other eco-friendly measures.
- Trash and recycling are in shared spaces throughout the building, promoting recycling and far less use of materials needed for individual trash and recycling throughout the work environment.
- Energy Star certified appliances are provided as the basis of design.
- Low or no VOC paint finishes and adhesives are specified for all interior applications.
- Throughout new design/build initiatives and within our facilities, we utilize architectural finishes such as carpet, resilient floors, and solid surface materials, that are high in pre- and post-consumer recycled content as the basis for CACI standards. For example, carpet used in newly designed facilities is 100% PVC-free and is recyclable into new carpet. It is Cradle-to-Cradle certified at the LEED Silver level, which is the most comprehensive material assessment available and takes into account material health, material reutilization, renewable energy, water stewardship and social fairness.
- Mechanical and electrical considerations for newly designed facilities include our HVAC systems, which are designed to meet or exceed current applicable ASHRAE standards for energy consumption.
- All lighting installed in new facilities is energy compliant LED lighting, in compliance with current applicable energy codes. Lighting controls utilize occupancy/vacancy sensors to ensure that lights are not left on in unoccupied spaces and daylight harvesting is utilized along perimeter window exposure to dim artificial lighting to appropriate levels while leveraging natural light. Dimming systems also reduce overall power consumption and lengthen the life expectancy of LED fixtures, further diverting materials from landfills.
- Other sustainability-related practices include open office planning and exposure to daylighting and views to the outdoors where feasible to promote wellness and increased productivity.
- IT-related initiatives include reduced desktop printer use, opting for multi-function (print/copy/scan/fax) devices only in shared areas of our work environments. CACI works with vendors to recycle unused IT equipment. We continue to focus on transitioning from paper records to digital records storage where possible and partner with vendors to shred and recycle discarded paper files.
Helping our Environment with Support from Our Employees
- Where there is a demand, we are including bike storage in facilities which encourages environmentally friendly transportation methods. Those facilities are typically equipped with on-site fitness centers and showers, as well.
- CACI has implemented telework programs and flexible work schedules that reduce commuting and save our employees time and reduce their carbon emissions, and we use Web conferencing when possible, to promote employee interaction and reduce carbon footprint and time associated with travel.
CACI strives to focus on environmentally friendly practices in many areas of our design, construction, material use, and recycling-based initiatives.
A healthy planet is everyone’s mission and at CACI, we remain ever vigilant in our commitment to sustainability.
CACI strategically supports and invests in initiatives and organizations focused around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for our future leaders:
